The bridging workshops are designed to “bridge the gap” between the digital competencies of the participants and the skills required to collaborate in the co-design workshops (where participants will need to provide assistance in designing the authoring application for LinguaCuisine).
The first workshops concentrated on assessing the initial needs of the participants. They completed two extensive questionnaires designed to ascertain their competencies with digital technology as well as their disposition to cooking skills and language learning.
Using this feedback, the remaining workshops concentrated on increasing the technical skills of the cohort under the overarching theme of recipe authorship. This included making paper-based recipes, utilizing desktop-publishing skills to make digital recipe cards and learning the basics of video planning (Storyboards), filming and editing.
